I have visited france, I have nothing against them, and they dont seem to have any problems with me as long as I dont try to speak my high school level french with them.

funny because i've heard the opposite. I hear they are very mean unless you at least attempt to speak their language. even if you suck at it they'll laugh at you and start talking in english

Bah, I took 2 years of spanish in high school. Didn't learn a thing because my friend and I kept making fun of spanish class and saying we were going to burn all our notes. Which we did...

I would be in spanish now if my 7th and 8th grade spanish teacher didn't ruin it for me. She had such a heavy accent and would always yell at us in spanish. Did like 3 homework assignments and the big project at the end and pulled out a 94.

I hated taking Spanish mainly because everyone I know spoke fluent english. In fact everyone I know still speaks fluent english! The only people around I ever saw who spoke spanish was a soccer team we played from the area. But that is because they came from the hispanic section of that town. And it wasn't bad because I didn't have to understand them too much, just enough to reply to their insults.

Ah, that's different from this part of Illinois. White people are projected to be the minority by 2010 in our county I believe (majority being Mexicans). So a lot of people speak fluent spanish.

Ya, you are up by Chicago right? Then that would be true, my gf lives up in that area and they have a large spanish speaking population. Down here in good old central Illinois, this is not the case. Thanks goodness lol

I actually live closer to the Wisconsin-Illinois border. It's a good 45 minute-1 hour drive to Chicago from where I live.

French girls (most of them, at least the normal class ones) find it cute (hot) when guys speaks french with an english/american accent (they think it makes the guy high-class).

People in French Polynesia doesn't speak english like someone from england or the US, but it's not that bad.

Only 2 years ? I have done 2 years and a half and I still have 2 years and a half to do... but at least it's fun (for now xD).

If you move to Canada you need to learn how to handle the growing population of undead that rise from the Great Lakes each year.

Ya I live in the middle of Illinois and love it.
